Promptly after returning from Disney, I sent wedding
announcements to our hometown papers, the Columbus
paper, and our respective universities.
The Columbus paper and U of I seem to
have properly handled the announcement - Rose gets a question mark; the Angola and Terre
Haute papers are a different story.
The day before our wedding announcement should have been
displayed in the Terre Haute
paper, I receive an e-mail that says "Our forms have not been working
correctly and since you didn't list an employer, I would like to confirm the
information." One, I'm not working,
another blog entirely; two, why wait to the day before. I was slightly annoyed. After not hearing from the e-mailer for a few
days, I call and end up talking to someone else. I confirm the information then ask when it
will be printed. Three to four weeks,
the run the announcements by the date of the marriage even though the website
says they'll be posted within two weeks.
Whatever.
The Angola
paper has been even more interesting.
Today, I called to inquire why the announcement hasn't run; this was the
second call, I've placed. On my original
call, I was told to e-mail the additional information in because the form was
incomplete. The announcement never
ran. So I called, they never received
the e-mail. So I resent the e-mail; not
in Sunday's paper. Mom seemed slightly
annoyed so I told her I would give the paper a call. The second e-mail wasn't received
either. I sent a third e-mail; later in
the day, I get a call, still no e-mail.
Great. So I sent it from another
e-mail account. I finally get an e-mail
confirming the receipt. Unfortunately,
no one can tell me when it will be printed.
Ugh!
